Areté Summer Academy is a positive, educational, and fun academic enrichment program in San Antonio, Texas for children in the 1st to 5th grades (ages 6-11) to help them maximize their productivity in the summer and to nourish their appreciation for learning. The program is run by licensed college and high school aged students who have experience in teaching and forming children. The children take classes in English, Math, Science, and Art each day in addition to a virtue talk on virtues such as Friendship, Generosity, and Honesty. Each child has the opportunity to mentor with one of our staff in an effort to help them to apply the lessons that they learn to their daily lives. Areté aims to inspire the children who participate with ideas and concrete goals about how they can succeed in all aspects of their life--in school, with their friends, and at home.

COURSES, CLASSES AND SERVICES

Areté Summer Academy began in the summer of 2017 at Santo Nino Parish Hall in San Antonio, Texas. Areté is a free virtue-based program that aims to serve children and families in the San Antonio area regardless of background or religious affiliation. Our goal is to create an environment conducive to learning and to help the children who participate to create goals for their future while having a blast playing sports, engaging in fun activities, and building friendships. Our program is based off of the Summer Bridge Books and the teachers create lesson plans for each day, all of which include interactive learning activities and personal attention. It is open to children in the 1st-5th grades (ages 6-11).
